Check out this guy's website for lots more of his drawings.
These are just some of my favorites.
Satire is my favorite form of art whether we're talking creative writing or drawings like what David Ross has done. Most of his depictions are of everyday life, usually in the business world. I'm pretty anti-formal-institutions. I think the way things are run are pretty shady. And it's not just the conscious efforts of politicians or business bosses. Regular citizens are trapped in this life-style too. We conform. That's why I think the "Break" picture is so funny. People who work in that sort of setting have become part of the machine, just needing to get fueled up like a car, not left to enjoy a cup of coffee.
I worked in an office job last summer. 8 hours a day 5 days a week sitting in one spot folding and scanning maps. And why? I dunno. I just did what I was told. That's bureaucracy. If the boss blinds the workers, they don't know whether they're plotting local road directions or plotting warfare directions.
Ross also has a collection of cell phone drawings. I find this particularly funny because everyone's on cell phones all the time now. I watched a girl cross a field toward another girl today. They were both on cell phones, talking to each other. For fun, on my way to class, I counted how many people were smoking and how many were on their phone. One cigarette, seven cell phones (mind you, the one smoking was on his phone too). Does this mean cell phones are more addictive than tobacco? They say both can cause cancer.
